Chiricahua National Monument

It's about one hour drive from where we are staying here in Benson, AZ.  We took Hercules with us and hiked on the Silver Spur Trail.  It was a great day!

I love the grasslands just outside the park.

We took the road to the end where we got gorgeous views.

We saw a coatimundi in the brush.  I coulnd get a good pic so I borrowed this one.

San Pedro House

Near Sierra Vista, AZ

This is the historic San Pedro House.  It's been restored and turned into a gift shop.

There is a network of trails on the property.

We hiked out to the San Pedro River.

Cottonwoods along the river.

The riparian forest along the river.

Wild gourds grow in this part of Arizona.

Brown's Canyon Ranch

Brown's Canyon Ranch is over 100 years old and abandoned.  It was donated to the National Forest Department by the family.  It was very beautiful and peaceful.  It was far enough away from civilization that you could not hear any traffic at all,  just the buzz of the grasshoppers.
